I’m on my way to the RecSys 2017 conference, a conference opened to academic researchers and practitioners working on algorithmic recommendations.
Such algorithms are widely used on websites to help users find they way and get a better user experience. Search engines are actually very complex recommendation engines that help you find the right content depending on where you are located, what you have liked before. We have discussed the topic of recommendation algorithms at length on this blog and I will therefore just direct you to some of the articles we published in the past to get accustomed to the topic.
Last year’s conference too place in Boston at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This year the conference is back in Europe and organized in the beautiful location of Como by the University of Milan.
What is exciting at this year’s conference are the workshops that take place on the first and on the fifth (and last day). I’m very honored to be part of the organizing committee of the FATREC workshop on fair and responsible recommendations.
While at the conference you’ll be able to follow me on my twitter account (@pnschwab). I’ll also report on the most exciting research works presented and will dedicate specific articles to those which I find most useful for our readers.
